October Curls...

 Howdy...

Todays stitch is a little fun one..

It is also a repeat [redo] project I did years ago for exchanges and wanted to do for myself.
None of these redos will be done in the same way as the first time, I dont think, but I am still undecided as of now.

So here is the first one I did in 2012...

And this one is the redo, without its snap, I have to go search through my moms things to see if she had any before i buy some...

A fun Little Repeat Stitch...

I just love this little stitch.. So much so this is the third one I have done..

The first 2 were back in  2012, made for a couple friends as christmas cards...

I chose to do only the bottom half of the design with teh words to fit on the card blanks I had.

2 different colorways, but i dont remember which colors I used back then.

This one was done June 6th, 2023.  I absolutely love how it turned out.

OOooo...M...G...

Updated June 1....

SOooo.. how you alls morning going today??? this fine fine saturday...

Mine you ask??.... welll.... heres how mine is going..

i throw my pillow into the dryer to fluff it as i do EVERY WEEKEND... but this time...

i come back to my EXPLODED memory foam PILLOW in my dryer, now my roomate has been cleaning it up for me..

THEN.... i go to the mailbox, and to get the garbage can, and there is a poor morning dove on my driveway dead..

so i go get gloves and when i picked it up to place it somewhere else, it was still warm, i felt so awful for it.. they mate for life and now another morning dove will be alone.. so yeah.. a shitty morning for me so far..

BUT...

I vow to make the rest of the weekend better... my plans you ask?

~~freeze the cheeses, 1 done, 1 to go...

~~ 2 very large batches of french toast to freeze, 1 regular, 1 pumpkin...not yet

~~ A batch of freezer breakfast burritos...nope..

~~ making a new pillow case for my EXPLODED pillow...maybe i can salvage it...decided against it, the memory foam was wierd so i tossed it..

~~ mending clothes

~~ sorting out fabric scraps to start a Kawandi lap quilt for myself, task started...

~~ finishing another cross stitch ornament or two, finished 2...

I have a second one to do in blues, also threads from RBR...

Design: Christmas Diamonds - Finger Step Designs
Fabric: 14 ct white opalescent

A LOT of red and a new start

So I've gone and done it again... *GASP*...
A new start... I know... I know... With so many already started, why a new one???
Well, I finished the swirling phases of the moon, and when i picked stitching back up, I promised my self that if i finished a large piece, I could start another..
This one however isn't all that huge.  It's about 9 x 10 I think and I never never EVER do full stitches..
I am just simply too old and too impatient for those.
When I was buying charts way back when I was over ambitios and though I can do all these..
UHMMM... no yI can't.. I am A SLOW STITCHER compared to most..
So the 3 large HEAD type pieces I had started back near 2016 or so, I cut them apart to use the leftover fabric in ornament pieces and the stitched sections will go into a slow stitched fiber and fabric journal I want to do later in the year.
I will also be addressing the joy attached to each started piece and make decisions on which to actually still work on, and which to pass on.  My tastes have changed and I only want to work on what I would like to spend the time on.  I have already sold off about 6 started pieces.  Others can enjoy them.

This piece is a cute little mini SAL from www.pinkernpunkin.blogspot.com
Spring Stamp SAL - It was published on her blog in April 2023
She has an Autumn one as well that I hope to do.  I thought it would be pretty to finish them as wall hanger with a rough branch for the hanger and some coordinating quilting cotton for a border and maybe a bit of hand quilting.. That though process is still in the works
And I don't know how this woman has so much energy to do all the things she does.
She literally stitched this SAL and accompanying pieces all in less than a month, i think....plus all the other things she gets done????  The patterns she offers to us as the public, and for free,, kudos!,..

I must thank her to no end.. as of today I have stitched 6 of her patterns, this one will be the 7th.
And there are more in the lineup of "to do"

Man I run out of spoons when I do simple chores, but then I have chronic illness, so I have less energy than many others..

So anyway I have chosen to make thread changes.  This border is stitched in DMC 115.
It took almost a full skein becasue on 14 ct fabrics I always use 3 threads for better coverage.
The word Spring will be in either a blue or green, or maybe a yellow, undecided still.
I will change out several of the other colors to DMC variegated threads.
The fabric is 14 ct aida coffee dyed by me. Hard to capture colors in some fabrics with my phone.

I did all this yesterday, took many hours, but i finished right before bedtime.

Until next time..

Happy Stitching!!!

Swirling Moon Phases

Yesterday I completed this piece.
It was started back in 2016 then abandened like all of my stitching.
I am still unsure how I will finish it, maybe a pillow?
It might look lovely as a ruffled pillow or one with a quilt fabric border, something darker to match the colors of the darkest thread used.
I am very pleased I have it finished, and I even made a goof.  When stitching I accidentally turned it a 1/4 turn, so some stitches don't match the rest, the legs are opposite, I choose not to take them out because I was so close to being done.  Who else will care besides me anyway?

The pattern is desiged by Stitches Little on Etsy.
You can check it out here by clicking this sentence

Farbic - hand dyed RumpleBearyRumors 14 ct Aida

OMG!...OMG!...OMG!...

GUESS WHAT?...GUESS WHAT???....

I am a published tangle artist!!!

I submitted 5 pieces for this book and along with many other fantastically talented artists,
I was accepted because I am part of the Facebook group called Tangle All Around.
This group is owned by Alice Hendon, who is the Author of the book.
She asked for members to submit thier favorite pieces to be included in the book.

You can see/purchase the book here...

Tangle All Around: Our Art, Our Journey - Alice Hendon

I am featured on pages...
These are the pieces I sent...
I am so proud of myself for trying tangling..
I however have not kept up with it too much since my mom passed away june 25th, 2021.
I do want to recreate some that I had drawn before she passed that I traded in ATC groups.
That is one of my 2023 goals, even if i only do a few, at least I made the effort.

Sloane the Snowman

WHAT A CUTIE THIS DUDE IS!!!

Sloane the Snowman by Bent Creek Trilogy.
He was originally started back in 8.18.2017 and finished today.
He has had a long road to completion and when I started on him again,
it was a very dislike filled relationship with the fabric he is stitched on which is a 32 ct linen.
But.. I was too far along to start over, so one painful stitch at a time until he was done.

My older eyes just cant do the linens anymore.
They cannot differentiate between threads when the slubs make it so uneven.
So I have decided to never stitch on anything lower than 28 ct, and never linen.
That way i have an easier time stitching and wont get fed up with the fabric ever again.

So here he is...complete with his cute little birdie buttons

Until next time..
Happy Stitching!!!

Noel Cardinal Card

This finish is a fun little kit from back in 1988 from The New Berlin Company.
It is a kit for a card with a pretty card blank , heart inset to put your stitching in.
I wasn't originally going to use the card, but after I got it stitched I changed my mind.
I will have so many pin pillows, bowl fillers and ornaments that a card is a nice change to add to the rest of what I have been creating.

The holly border on the card is so simply and prety I just had to use it.
This kit was gifted to me by a sweet lady on my FB.
She gifted me with some stithcing things and I am so grateful she did.
Thank you, you know who you are....

Until next time..
Happy Stitching!!!

My 1rst Halloween piece of 2023

Today I have my first halloween stitch of 2023..
I really enjoyed this one, but after I was finished there are a couple things I would have changed.

I would have changed the color for the border lines to green. Maybe.

I used 14 ct Fiddlers Oatmeal.. Another of my favorite Fabrics.
I do like how it came out.  Now to find a frame for it..

Until next time..

Stitch Pillow redo

Today I have completed my redo for a stitch pillow i made many years ago.
I started it while my roommate was in the ER for kidney stones and finished it a couple days later.
Of course I still have to do the final finish on all of the stitches I have done this year.
That will all come later.

The first pic is the one done years ago...
ignore the copyright on my photo, that website is gone due to lack of funds to maintain it.

this is designed by https://kincavelkrosses.wordpress.com/, called needlebook

Both were done on 14 ct Fiddlers Oatmeal

Now is this new one...
I really like how the newer one came out, at first I didnt like the bottom color, but it has grown on me.
Now to find a quilting fabric that will go fabulously with all the colors..
oh and some buttons..

Until next time..
Happy Stitching!!!

2023 has gotten away from me...

Today I was perusing Pinterest and came across one of my favorite stiching blogs again.
I just love everything i have seen of her stitching.  So much inspiration all in one place!
I went back all the way back to her very first post and discovered
the reason she numbers every stitch she posts.
She had set a goal of doing an ornament every week of 2009.
Now here I am thinking, Why can't I do that too?  Problem is...
we are now 12 weeks into 2023 so I am seriously behind.  But not as behind as you may think..
Since February 13th, 2023, I have done 9 ornaments
[just the stitching part, finishing is still to be done]
So technically all I have to do to get caught up to be current and on schedule is make 4 in the next week.... Can I do it? Maybe...
My health hasnt been so good the last three months and every day is like russian roulette..
Or as Forest Gump says.. Life is like a box of chocolates.. you never know what your gonna get....
I have also decided to not continue doing crafts that I either do not enjoy or frustrate me beyond belief.
Things like stamping, papercrafts and junk journals.  Nope, just not going to do them any more.
I will pass on what things i have that I wont use and move on to what does give me joy.

So I will set this same goal for myself and see how I do.
The patterns I am doing are smalls, so it might just work.
Here are the first pieces I have stitched this year... 9 so far...
